Vision Statement

We are building on our heritage and approaching the future with a vision relevant to our changing world while creating an atmosphere where Christ can bring healing, hope, and joy to all.

I want to say that I could not have been more pleased with the way the Installation Service went. I want to thank the Transition Team for all their work and planning, for designing and sending invitations, for inviting special guests, for saying yes whenever something needed to be done, and for underwriting the cost of the banquet (with the help of some others). I want to thank the choir and soloist who stepped up to the plate when asked to sing “Siahamba” and realized it was not all in English and provided a beautiful musical program. I want to thank those who set up the fellowship hall for the banquet, set out the decorations and trained the wait staff. The whole event was wonderful!! I was grateful that my Mom and Dad, that our children, and Rev. Ralph Wagner and his wife Susan were here. They all commented on how welcomed and at home they felt and how wonderfully exciting First Baptist Evansville is. I am energized and excited and looking forward to what is ahead for us as we serve God together.

Any plans for Mother’s Day? We want to start the day off right and I have recruited an all male crew to make breakfast that morning for all the Mothers and Daughters of the church. You are encouraged to invite and bring with you any women that you wish to join us for this breakfast. Breakfast is at 8:30am and will be served in the Fellowship Hall. All women are welcome to come but are asked to stay out of the kitchen that morning.

Sunday Morning Worship will be very special that day. The children of the church will be presenting a very special musical program “We Can Praise”. Preaching that morning will be Emily Farmer Slade who will be entering her Senior Year at Duke Divinity School where she is studying to go into ordained ministry. The place to be May 11th is right here at First Baptist.

So thank you for your support and thank you for your prayers. Joanne and I both are so very thankful for all the things you do for us and all the things you do to serve God here at First Baptist.

                                                                                                                Grace and Peace,
                                                                                                                Pastor George

                                                                FOOD PANTRY TABLE

If you’re coming to the church for any reason through-out the week, bring a non-perishable food item and put it on one of the tables in the Sanctuary. The food items are taken to Patchwork Central which distributes it to those in need. Hunger is not a seasonal or random thing, it’s an on going thing.  FBC CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!

We express our sympathy to the Bruce Family on the passing of Nellie Bruce on April 23rd and we express our sympathy to the Moss Family on the passing of Robert Moss Jr. on April 25th.

♪ ♫ NOTES FROM JULIE ♫ ♪

For the past few months, our Children's Choir has been learning about different ways we can praise God, and have prepared a musical, "We Can Praise" to share in the worship service on Sunday, May 11.  This will be an exciting day because in addition to our musical, Emily Farmer Slade will be preaching, AND it is Mother's Day!  So please don't miss this very special service.

SUMMER  SINGERS

Our regular Sanctuary Choir year is coming to a close and it's time to think about being a Summer Singer.  In order to allow our faithful choir members a few weeks off for vacation, we need folks to sing in their places.  Our summer repertoire is made up of favorite anthems we have shared during the year.  Since those who regularly sing with the choir will already know them, Summer Singers will have plenty of help with their parts.  We have only 1 rehearsal (Wed., May 28 from 6-8:30) for the entire summer.  And when summer's over, you are welcome to turn in your robe and folder and return to your pew.  But who knows?  You might want to keep singing with us.  And we'd be glad to have you.  If you are interested in being a Summer Singer, please see Julie and she'll sign you up!
